In short: the ScoreTap Wear OS app is a free companion built into the Android app. Install ScoreTap on your phone, and your paired Wear OS watch can install the same companion from Google Play. Tap a team's score on your watch and it updates your phone, and the other way around, within a moment.
Why score from your watch
A phone gets left on a chair, in a bag, or across the court. A watch stays on your wrist for the whole match, so the moment a rally ends you can register the point without breaking stride or handing the phone around.
What you need
- A Wear OS 3.0 or later watch, paired with an Android phone: Galaxy Watch 4 and newer, Pixel Watch, and most other Android smartwatches from 2018 onward.
- An Android phone running ScoreTap from Google Play, already paired to the watch through the Wear OS app.
- Bluetooth range between phone and watch, and ScoreTap open in the foreground on the phone while you score.
Set up in three steps
- Install ScoreTap on your phone. Get it from Google Play and pair your Wear OS watch with the phone through the Wear OS app, as usual.
- Install the watch companion. Once the phone app is installed, Google Play offers the ScoreTap companion on your paired watch. Install it there, the same way you install any other watch app.
- Open ScoreTap on your phone and start a match. Start the game as normal on the phone. Your watch shows the live score automatically. Tap a team's button to score, tap Undo to fix a miscount, or tap Continue between games.
What the watch shows
Two full-height buttons fill the screen in the same court colours as the phone, each carrying that team's score. A dot marks the serving side, undo sits along the bottom edge, and everything updates the instant a rally is scored, from either device.
Keep in mind
The watch is a remote with a compact score readout, not a second scoreboard: starting a new match, and changing sport, rules or language, stays on the phone. Scoring needs the phone nearby with ScoreTap open in the foreground. If the watch loses the connection it says so plainly and taps are not queued, so nothing scores until it reconnects.
Apple Watch
The same companion ships for Apple Watch with the ScoreTap iOS app. Install ScoreTap from the App Store, then score from your wrist: two team buttons, undo, and the serve pick, synced live with your iPhone.
Troubleshooting
- The watch says "Open the app on your phone": open ScoreTap on the phone and keep it in the foreground. The watch only shows a score once the phone is running a match.
- A tap on the watch did not register: check the watch is still paired and in Bluetooth range. A dropped connection blocks taps rather than queueing them, so reconnect and try again.
