Short version: the scoreboard needs no account and sends none of your scores or settings anywhere. Open Play, where you run or join a game session with other people, needs a connection and a profile. If you use it, we store your username, your name, the games you play and their results, plus your email address if you create an account. The other people in the same open play can see your name, username, level and results; nobody sees your email address. We do not sell data, show ads or run analytics. You can delete your account inside the app at any time (Section 13). Optional watch companions are described in Section 9.
1. Who we are
ScoreTap, published in the app stores as Pickleball Remote Scoreboard, is developed and published by AlgoFlamingo, which has teams in Pasay City, Philippines and Luxembourg. AlgoFlamingo is responsible for the personal data described in this policy. Questions about this policy or the app can be sent to algoflamingo@gmail.com.
2. Scope
This policy covers the app on every platform it ships on (the Android app on Google Play, the iOS app on the App Store and the web app at play.scoretap.app) and this website, https://scoretap.app.
ScoreTap has two parts. The scoreboard needs no account and works offline: it keeps your scores and settings on your device and sends none of them anywhere. Open Play lets an organiser run a session with several courts and lets other people join it with a code or a link. Open Play needs an internet connection to sign in, join and sync, and it stores data on our servers, as described below.
3. What Open Play stores
You can join an open play as a guest, with only a username and a name, or sign in with an account. This is everything Open Play stores about you, and why. You need to give a username and a name to take part in an open play; everything else is optional, and an email address is only needed for an account.

A guest has the same data without the email address and password. A guest can erase their data at any time with Forget me.
Open Play does not collect your device's location, contacts, photos or files, does not use advertising identifiers, and has no analytics or crash-reporting tools.
4. Who can see your data
- The other people in the same open play can see your display name, username and level, the games you play, their results and the rankings. People who only watch see the same.
- Organisers (the person who created the open play and anyone they make an organiser) can also add or remove people, change who plays where and enter official results. They run the open play and are responsible for it (see the Terms of Use).
- Anyone who is signed in, guests included, can find your username and display name by typing the first three letters or more of your username.
- Nobody sees your email address: not other players and not organisers. We use it only to run your account and to answer you.
- An organiser can add a player who has no account by typing a name and a level. That name is kept as part of the open play. If you are listed in an open play and want your name removed, email us.
5. Why we use your data, and our legal basis
We use your data only to run the app. We do not sell it, we do not use it for advertising and we do not build advertising profiles.
- To provide what you asked for: Open Play (your account, joining, courts, results, rankings and sign-in emails) and a ScoreTap Ring reservation. Legal basis: performance of a contract, or steps taken at your request before one (GDPR Article 6(1)(b)).
- To keep the service secure and fair: join attempts, sign-in records, limits on abuse and fixing faults. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in a safe service (Article 6(1)(f)).
- To follow the law, for example when a court or authority legally requires us to keep or disclose something (Article 6(1)(c)).
- With your consent for the few optional things that need it, such as saving a workout to Apple Health (Section 9). You can withdraw your consent at any time.
6. What is stored on your device
The app keeps some data in your device or browser's local storage. The scoreboard settings never leave your device: they are not uploaded, synced or visible to AlgoFlamingo or anyone else. The Open Play rows are a copy of data that is also on our servers (Section 3).

Uninstalling the app, or clearing site data if you use the web version, deletes the copy on your device. Your account and open plays on our servers stay until you delete your account (Section 13). The scoreboard settings exist only on your device, so there is no backup of them.
7. Microphone, camera and location
ScoreTap does not use the microphone, the camera or your location, and does not request those permissions. The app speaks the score aloud to you and, during a live match, plays a silent keep-alive clip to support Bluetooth remotes (see Section 8). In both cases it plays audio outward; it never records or listens.
8. On-device features (not data collection)
- Speech synthesis (text-to-speech): your phone's or browser's own built-in voice reads the score call aloud after each rally, and announces games in Open Play, in your choice of 9 languages (English (US), English (UK), German, French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, and Vietnamese). No audio or text is sent anywhere; synthesis happens live on your device using voices already installed on it.
- Silent Media Session audio (for optional Bluetooth remotes): while a match is in progress the app plays a roughly one-second, near-silent, synthesised audio clip in a loop. This exists only because iOS requires a page to have an active media session before it will deliver button presses from a Bluetooth remote to the app. The clip is generated on your device in JavaScript, plays no music or spoken content, is not audible in normal use, and stops as soon as the match ends or the app leaves the foreground. It does not use the microphone and nothing about it is sent anywhere.
- Screen wake lock: keeps the display on during a game so the screen does not dim mid-match. This does not track how the device is used.
- Haptics (native app only): brief vibration feedback on scoring events and when your game is called, generated locally.
9. Watch companions and workout recording
ScoreTap has optional companions for Wear OS watches, Apple Watch and Garmin watches. They work as a remote for the match on your phone. Nothing in this section involves AlgoFlamingo: no data from the watch companions reaches us or any server of ours.
- The link between phone and watch: while a match is open, the phone app sends the match state (sport, team names, scores, serving side and court colours) and whether the app is open on the phone to your own paired watch, and the watch sends your taps back. This travels only between your phone and your watch, through the watch platform's own connection: the Wear OS Data Layer, Apple's WatchConnectivity, or Garmin Connect Mobile, which relays it to a Garmin watch.
- Apple Watch workouts (Apple Health): only if you choose Record this match on your Apple Watch, ScoreTap asks for permission to save workouts to Apple Health and to read your heart rate and active energy while that workout runs, so the saved workout includes them. When you save it, the workout (sport, start and end time, heart rate and active energy) is written to Apple Health; when you discard it, nothing is kept. ScoreTap reads no other health data, never reads health data outside a workout you started, never sends health data to AlgoFlamingo or anyone else, and never uses it for advertising, marketing or any other purpose. You can withdraw this access at any time in the Health app on your iPhone.
- Garmin workouts (Garmin Connect): only if you press START in ScoreTap on your Garmin watch, the watch records the match as a Garmin activity: the sport, time, laps, heart rate and calories measured by the watch, and the match result and game scores, including the team names shown in the app. The activity is stored on your watch and synced to your own Garmin Connect account by Garmin, under Garmin's privacy policy.
10. Network use
The scoreboard is designed to work fully offline. Aside from the initial download or install (or the first page load for the web version, and later update checks by the browser's service worker), it makes no network requests, other than the update check described next. The installed app (not the web version) asks Expo's update service (u.expo.dev) whether newer app code is available each time it opens; that request carries your IP address, the platform, the app version and a random install identifier, and nothing you enter in the app. Open Play connects to our servers, which Supabase runs for us (Section 11), when you sign in, join an open play, and send or receive changes. An organiser can keep running an open play without a connection: the changes stay on the device and are sent automatically when it is online again. The watch companions talk only to your own paired watch, as described in Section 9.
11. Who we share data with
We do not sell or rent personal data, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers. These companies process data for us, under their own data processing terms:

These companies run servers outside the European Economic Area: ours at Supabase are in the Asia-Pacific region, and Vercel, Resend, Formspree and Expo also operate in the United States and elsewhere. Where the law asks for safeguards for such transfers, we rely on the standard contractual clauses in their data processing terms.
Google Play and the Apple App Store may collect information when you download or update the app, under their own privacy policies. If you choose to record a workout on your watch, Apple Health or Garmin Connect stores it under Apple's or Garmin's own privacy policy (see Section 9). We may disclose data if the law requires it.
12. How long we keep data
- Your profile and sign-in details: until you delete your account.
- Guest accounts: until the guest taps Forget me.
- Open plays, games and results: kept as history for the people who took part. When you delete your account they stay, but your place in them shows as "Deleted player" (Section 13).
- Join attempts: up to 30 days.
- ScoreTap Ring reservations: only as long as we need to handle your reservation.
- Server logs and email delivery logs at Vercel, Supabase, Resend and Expo: for the short periods those companies keep them.
- Backups: routine backups of our database may hold deleted data for a short time before they are overwritten.
13. Deleting your account and your data
You can delete your data yourself inside the app: open Profile and tap Delete account (accounts) or Forget me (guests). It takes effect at once and cannot be undone. It:
- removes your email address, password and sign-in, so you can no longer sign in;
- turns your profile into "Deleted player" with a made-up username, and clears your level;
- removes you from every open play and ends the open plays you were running;
- makes anonymous the players you added by hand; and
- stops your name being attached to any change in an open play.
Games and results are shared records of what happened between several people, so they stay for the others. They no longer carry your name, username or email address.
If you signed in with Apple, deleting your account also asks Apple to end the connection between your Apple ID and ScoreTap. Apple needs you to confirm that in the app, so the iPhone app asks you to confirm with Apple once more before it deletes anything. If you signed in with Google or Facebook, you can also remove ScoreTap from the list of connected apps in your Google or Facebook account settings.
If you cannot use the app, email algoflamingo@gmail.com from the address of your account (or tell us your username) and we will delete your data within 30 days. We may ask you to confirm that it is you. This section is the data deletion instruction for ScoreTap.
14. Your rights
Under the GDPR and similar laws, including the Philippine Data Privacy Act, you can ask us for a copy of your data, correct it (you can change your name and level in Profile), delete it, restrict or object to our use of it, and receive it in a portable format. Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it. Write to algoflamingo@gmail.com and we will answer within one month. You can also complain to a data protection authority: in Luxembourg the CNPD (cnpd.lu), in the Philippines the National Privacy Commission, or the authority where you live.
Because games are shared records, we cannot remove a result from the other players' history, but we can remove your name from it (Section 13).
15. Security
Data travels over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Each person can read only the open plays they are in, and every change is checked on the server before it is stored. Passwords are never stored in readable form. No system is perfectly secure; if you find a problem, please tell us at algoflamingo@gmail.com.
16. Children's privacy
Open Play is for people aged 13 and over. We do not knowingly create accounts for, or keep data about, children under 13, and we delete it if we learn that we have. Where your country sets a higher age for consenting to data processing (it is up to 16 in some EU countries), you need the permission of a parent or guardian. The scoreboard collects nothing, so anyone can use it.
17. This website and the web app
https://scoretap.app is a static website. It sets no cookies, runs no analytics and embeds no third-party scripts. Your language choice for the site is remembered in your browser's local storage only. The web app at play.scoretap.app sets no cookies either; it uses local storage as described in Section 6. Our hosting provider may keep standard, short-lived server logs (such as IP address and requested page) for security and operational purposes; we do not use these to identify visitors.
If you reserve a ScoreTap Ring on this website, the form sends the name, email address and Philippine mobile number you type to Formspree, a form service that passes them on to us so that we can contact you about your reservation. We use them only for that.
18. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will update the effective date above and post the revised policy at this same address. Material changes will also be reflected in the app's store listing update notes.
October 13, 2026: Open Play added with version 1.2.0: accounts, guests, open plays, games and results are now stored on our servers. New or rewritten: Sections 2 to 6 and 10 to 17. The scoreboard and the watch companions still send nothing to us.
October 5, 2026: watch companions section added (now Section 9), including optional workout recording to Apple Health and Garmin Connect. Health and workout data stays in your own Apple Health or Garmin Connect account.
September 7, 2026: policy republished at https://scoretap.app/privacy for the ScoreTap brand and the new website, with a section on the website.
